Own knowledge of the thriller genre:
To an extent, i believe with certain thriller sub-genres i am relatively strong dependent on the conventions of that specific sub-genre, as within psychological and supernatural i believe that i have an overall interest in these two sub-genres, however despite this interest that i have not actually seen many thrillers to my knowledge, one that i have seen is the more recent stephen kings 'it', however this film is in large debate on whether it is actually a film from the thriller or horror genre, however in my belief i believe that the film falls under supernatural/psychological thriller, because of the overall layout of the films setting and story, as most thrillers are set in a very similar, normal environment, which the 'it' film uses.I have also received multiple and will continue to have school lessons on the thriller genre, where i am educated on the thriller genre and the codes and conventions within this genre, and also learn what makes a thriller a thriller. As a whole though, i do not have any prior experience in producing a media product similar to this thriller opening, as my produced products have often been trailers and or short snippets, and within different genres to the thriller genre, putting me at quite a large disadvantage as i am certainly not familiar at all with this type of media production. However i intend to improve this by watching select thriller films and openings to grasp an idea of how most of them are structured, especially those who share the same sub-genre as my own initial ideas as this will most certainly improve my own overall knowledge of the genre and specific sub-genre which will later improve the finalized media product i would have produced.
